Guest service volunteers are the first to greet and welcome guests, offer hospitality, guide them to the auditorium for service, and help answer questions when needed. Our role is to show the authentic love of God through warm, sincere hospitality. We do this by creating a welcoming environment where guests are comfortable, cared for, and ultimately discover the next step in their relationship with Jesus. Ideally, Guest Service volunteers serve two weekends per month. Select a role below to learn more about it.
Parking lot volunteers show our guests that we care about them from the moment they arrive. During busier service times and on busier weekends such as Easter or Christmas, the team helps direct cars to available parking spots. They assist guests as they make their way to and from the building as needed. They watch for new families and communicate with our Greeters and Ambassadors to ensure a welcoming and seamless first visit. The parking team will set up and take down items such as signs and parking cones depending on the service. This team is a partner to the Safety Response Team by being aware of any situations that may need their attention. Parking Lot volunteers arrive 25 minutes prior to the start of service. The parking lot team remains at their station until 15 minutes after the start of service. A background check is required for all Grace Church volunteers.
Greeters open doors and warmly welcome guests at our building entrances.
As a Grace Greeter, you seek eye contact and offer a smile as the guest approaches and then offer a warm greeting as they enter. This position requires standing outside and opening doors for approximately 30 minutes at a time. Greeters arrive 25 minutes before the service start time to check in and attend the pre-service huddle, and then remain at their station until 15 minutes after the start of service at which time they can attend the remainder of the service. A background check is required for all Grace Church volunteers.
Café attendants provide warm hospitality, prepare complimentary coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and sell other snacks and beverages during services. Volunteers help keep the café well cared for by keeping the café clean and organized. This volunteer position remains in the cafe throughout the service but would be able to attend the service before or after.
NOTE: If Sunday morning doesn’t work for you, Cafe attendants are also needed before the Grace Students service on Wednesday evenings. The time commitment is approximately 5:15 to 6:45 on Wednesday evenings.
The primary role of the Usher is to warmly welcome guests into the auditorium and assist them in finding a seat if needed. In addition, Ushers assist with collecting the offering. Generally, we strive for 1-2 ushers per entrance into the auditorium. Ushers arrive 25 minutes before the service start time to check in and attend the pre-service huddle. Ushers remain at the door until 15 minutes after the start of service at which time they can attend the remainder of the service. Ushers return to the auditorium doors at the end of service to assist guests as needed. Background checks are required for all Grace Church volunteers.
Communion at Grace Church occurs approximately every 4-6 weeks. During communion weekends the communion team prepares the communion elements: crackers, grape juice, cups and trays for each service. The team sets up the communion tables in the auditorium, replenishes for each service, and then cleans up following the final service. More importantly, the team prays God’s blessing over the elements. The communion prep team arrives 45 minutes prior to the first service start time and/or 30 minutes prior to the next service start time. A background check is required for all Grace Church volunteers.
This person will provide Cafe administrative support for Grace Church. Each Grace Church campus has a café that operates during Sunday services as well as the Wednesday evening Students service. The cafes offer complimentary coffee, hot cocoa, and tea. In addition, the cafes offer snacks and other beverages for sale. On Wednesday evenings the Students ministry sells pizza from a local pizzeria. This role partners with the Campus Support Involvement Director and has the following responsibilities:
Since this is a new role, the initial responsibilities and time commitment would be higher but very flexible. Someone with a retail or F&B background could work through getting processes in place more quickly, but this is not required. In the future we anticipate this role requiring 1-3 hours per week.
