Grace Special Needs exists to minister and provide support to individuals and families with special needs. Our desire is to let every individual know that they are welcomed, cared for and loved. Select a role below to learn more about it.
Can you be a friend?
That’s all you need to be a buddy in Grace Kids! Buddies work 1:1 with a child with special needs, disabilities, or who just need a little extra support to have a good experience at church. Our buddies don’t teach the lesson, but they do work with kids to help them engage with the lesson and to help them connect with their peers.
As a buddy, you will likely be assigned to work with the same participant most weeks so you can build a friendship with them and become an expert at meeting their specific needs, but you may also be in a “float” role to work with new kids or individuals we didn’t expect.
We don’t require any previous experience working with the special needs community! If you can be a friend, we can teach you everything else you need to know to give our kids a great experience in Grace Kids.
That’s all you need to be a buddy in Grace Students! Buddies work with 1-3 students with special needs and disabilities in our dedicated special needs grace group on Wednesday nights. Our buddies don’t teach the lesson, but they do work with students to help them engage with the lesson.
As a buddy, you will likely be assigned to work with the same handful of participants most weeks so you can build a friendship with them and become an expert at meeting their specific needs.
We don’t require any previous experience working with the special needs community! If you can be a friend, we can teach you everything else you need to know to give our students a great experience in Grace Students.
That’s all you need to be a buddy in the Adults Class! Buddies work with 1-3 adults with special needs and disabilities in our dedicated service space on Sunday mornings. Our buddies don’t teach the lesson, but they do work with adults to help them engage with the lesson. Participants in this class are 12 years and older.
We don’t require any previous experience working with the special needs community! If you can be a friend, we can teach you everything else you need to know to give our participants a great experience in the Adults Class.
Do you enjoy teaching a small group of individuals?
Perhaps you might enjoy serving as a Grace Group Leader for our special needs group at Grace Students on Wednesday nights! You’ll teach our students a modified version of the message. All the lesson materials and supplies you need will be provided! Previous experience teaching or working with individuals with disabilities is recommended, but not required.
This is a great opportunity to get to know larger groups of participants, to build friendships, and to guide our friends to become outward-focused followers of Jesus.

Do you enjoy creative problem-solving and coaching people to work with individuals with disabilities?
If so, you may be interested in being a service coordinator for Grace Special Needs! Service coordinators work to ensure every individual attending a service has the support they need. That may include ensuring their buddy has arrived, jumping in as a buddy if needed, or helping the buddy work through challenging behavior.
Previous experience working with individuals with special needs is required.
Are you passionate about supporting Grace Special Needs, but not ready or able to serve hands-on with individuals in our ministry? Perhaps behind-the-scenes prep is for you!
While the exact details of what is needed varies by campus, this role could include things such as scheduling volunteers, preparing curriculum, planning events, and more.
This team typically works during the week during normal business hours but with flexibility within that timeframe. This role has a flexible schedule that you can work out with your Grace Special Needs Director.
This is a team of adults and students who care for the kids of parents attending an event, class, or training at one of our 3 campuses. During this time, you will play with and take care of the kids you’re watching or take care of 1-2 individuals with disabilities.
This is babysitting during events (not weekend ministry) so there is no curriculum, but you will be provided with the supplies needed to provide top-of-the-line care.
This is an hourly paid or volunteer position. Shifts vary. You can set your availability to whichever campuses, days, and times you’re able to work. This position has a lot of schedule flexibility, but shift availability is based on scheduled events (no guaranteed hours).
Must be 14 years old or older to work as a paid youth worker and 18+ to work as a paid adult worker.
Does the idea of adapting the messages we hear on Sundays in adult worship or Wednesdays at Grace Students energize you?
We are looking for people passionate about using their writing skills and teaching background to modify sermons for our Grace Students Grace Group and the Adults Class. Some sort of previous experience teaching and/or working with the special needs community is recommended for curriculum writers, but we also have need for people who are skilled in visual design to create activities, build slideshows, or even occasionally edit videos.
