If you had to sum up your responsibilities at Grace in one sentence, what would it be?

The Holy Spirit brought 1 Peter 5:1-4 to mind -- my role is to (1) lead Grace Church, (2) feed people spiritually, and (3) be an example for people, (4) as I follow Christ, our Chief Shepherd.

What is the best advice you've ever been given?

Three months before I became a pastor, I asked a number of experienced pastors for their advice. The best advice I received was from the oldest pastor. I call it "The Wheaties Speech." He said, "Tim? One of these days, things will be falling apart in your church. So, what you do is you push your Wheaties away (i.e. your breakfast bowl) and you tell God, 'God? You have a problem in Your church. It's not my problem, because it's not my church. So, it's time for You to fix the problem in Your church, because it's not my problem, it's Your problem. It's Your church.' Then you go back to eating your Wheaties." He was paraphrasing 1 Peter 5:7 and Philippians 4:6-7.

What do you do for fun?

With my family, we like to travel, camp, hike, and see new things. With my wife, we like to play pickleball and tennis. On my own, I like to run or work out.

What is one verse from the Bible by which you try to live your life?

I heard my life verses, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, as a new Christian during a message in church. I will never forget hearing the speaker repeat, "You are not your own. You are not your own. I said you're not you're own." The Holy Spirit gripped my heart and life with those Bible verses since then.

What is your favorite movie?

My favorite film is the second film in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, called "The Two Towers." My favorite scenes in the film are "The Battle of Helm's Deep."
